College to Close for Spring Break This Week
The College will be closed at all sites for the Spring Break period from March 25 through April 1st and will reopen on April 4th.

Battle of the Bands
The A.S.C.C. of Cerro Coso will be hosting a “Battle of the Bands” on Saturday, April 16 in the Cerro Coso Community College Gymnasium from 11 am until 5 pm. Participation is limited to 10 bands, on a first-come, first-served basis. Each band will have a 30-minute set and placement will be luck of the draw. Bands must furnish their own instruments and equipment. Prizes will be awarded. Food and soft drinks will be available for purchase during this event. To sign up for this event contact Anna Sue Eldridge in the Student Activities Office, room 248 or by phone at 384-6353

Cerro Coso Logo Contest
The contest to create a new logo is open to everyone – the public, students, faculty, staff, and administration. There will be an award in the amount of $500 for the individual whose design is chosen. College Council will be the reviewing and recommending body. The individual submitting the winning design will release all rights to the design at the time of award. Entries should be forwarded to office of the President, Sharon Dyer by April 15.

Curt Sherwood Fundraisers
On Thursday, March 17th, Special Services will be holding a fundraiser for the “Curt Sherwood Fund” by selling Leprechaun Candy and chances to guess “How Many Pieces of Candy Are in the Jar” – The closest guess wins a prize. Keep your eye out – For Easter Special Services will be selling Bunny Candy.

ASB Card Book Nook Voucher
Effective Fall 2005 students purchasing an ASB Card (cost is $8.00) will receive a one time voucher for $5.00 off any items in the Bookstore (including text books). Students must use this voucher in one visit to the bookstore (change will not be given). Replacements will not be made for lost vouchers.

Telephone/Voice Registration has been discontinued as of April 1, 2005 for Cerro Coso College and the other colleges in the Kern Community College District. Battle of the Bands Winners
The ASCC sponsored Battle of the Bands held on Saturday April 16th was a great success. The ASCC and its clubs were out in force. Great rock and roll music was enjoyed by about 300 attendees. 10 bands vied for the cash rewards but the bands that took the top three spots were:
   ● 1st Place Saint Redfield ($200.00) from Victorville
   ● 2nd Place Moments Like These ($150.00) from Ridgecrest
   ● 3rd Place A Bitter Victory ($100.00) from Ridgecrest
Bands that came close to being in the money were Coup de Etat, and Edicius both from Ridgecrest. We had a band travel up from Oraange County, Kazamoto, who were also very good.

Effective 5/16/05, there will no longer be the 10% ASB discount in the College Bookstore. Beginning with Fall 2005 semester ASB Card sales, the Cerro Coso Book Nook will participate in the ASB Community Discount Program by providing all ASB card purchasers a $5.00 certificate that can be used toward a single purchase in the bookstore equal to or greater than $5.00. No change will be given to any student. Lost or stolen vouchers will not be replaced.

6.28 Coyote Connection Scheduled Down-Time
The Coyote Connection Online Student Information System will be offline starting 6pm, Thursday June 30th and will be back online by midnight (12am). This scheduled outage is for year-end close to switch the system to the new 2005-2006 year.

The Book Nook will be CLOSED for INVENTORY Wednesday and Thursday, June 29 & 30, 2005. We will reopen after the audit has been completed Tuesday, July 5, 2005.

Constitution Day Celebration
In commemoration of the signing of the United States Constitution on September 17, 1787, the U.S. Department of Education has declared September 17th "Constitution Day." To celebrate, the ASCC will host a table in the Student Center on Wed. the 21st and Thurs. the 22nd where they will feature forms to register to vote, for guys to register for the draft, copies of the Constitution, Preamble and some quizzes for you to take concerning the Constitution. Dress in red, white, and blue to show your patriotism and come see us in the Student Center to see just how much you know about your constitution!

Cultural Events This Week
Cerro Coso has four cultural events going on this week. The Ground Zero Quilt reception and display begins November 14th at 4:00pm. On Thursday the CCCC Band will present its Fall 2005 Concert at 7:30. On Friday two events are planned; the "All Over But the Shooting" Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre production fundraiser starts at 5:30pm, and at 7:00 pm the college will host Men of Worth who will return once again with wit and music. The Ground Zero Quilt by Lois Jarvis is here! The quilt will be on public display at Cerro Coso in the new Learning Resource Center, Art Gallery from November 14 – 22. Monday – Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The City of Ridgecrest and Cerro Coso College will co-sponsor a community reception from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, November 14. The quilt places the pictures of more than 600 individuals who perished on Sept. 11, 2001 in a “Lone Star” pattern that evokes the image of an explosion. The starburst of faces is surrounded by a boarder of grays, symbolizing a smoke-enveloped city in mourning. Cerro Coso College will be closed at all campuses from December 17 through January 2, 2006. The College will reopen January 3rd. Any items, including emails and online form submissions, sent to Cerro Coso during the closure will not be processed until the college reopens in January.

The Cerro Coso Community College Acting Students Present Natural Born Actors, A showcase of Monologues and Scenes. The event will be held Monday, December 12, 2005, 4:15 pm in the CCCC Lecture Center (Room 250). Come enjoy yourself, bring a friend and have some laughs. It’s FREE! Rimers of Eldritch
Cerro Coso drama students will present Rimers of Eldritch on Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the CCCC Lecture Center. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $4 for students, seniors, and military. Tickets are available at Lou’s Hallmark and at the CCCC Business Office. The Rimers of Eldritch is an adult drama and is not appropriate for children. For further information, please contact Melinda Fogle Oliver in the CCCC Drama Department at 384-6114.
